Tim Bulkeley's Homepage
This page will try to collect together the various strands of my life (at least
as far as they have an online manifestation). BTW the retro
look was suggested by Stephen Garner!
For a non-work non-family hobby I have recently been recording fiction at Librivox,
my chapters of The
Extraordinary Adventures of Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Burglar are public,
The Woman in White another collaborative effort is (I think) nearly
ready and I have nearly finished a solo project Kipling's Stalky and Co..
I am grouping the links under various headings:
-
Recent writing
- Also audio I read Rudyard
Kipling's entertaining school stories Stalky and Co.
for Librivox.
- Audio blog 5 Minute Bible
short MP3s on biblical studies topics - not sure if it counts as
"writing" though ;-0
- "What
is a family?" for Vision Network (the NZ Evangelical group).
- paper for ANZABS on "Percentages, Prose and Poetry"
This paper explores the notion of "prose particles" in biblical
Hebrew with particular reference to some disputed texts. It will suggest
that the patterns of use of these particles (אֲשֶׁר הֵ* אֶת־) is more
complex and more interesting than the Andersen and his collaborators suggest.
- This year much of my writing time is being given to preparatory work
on the Hypertext Bible Dictionary.
- Recent, as well as older publications are listed on my CV.

Cooking
- When I have time, I love cooking long slow meals. When I don't, I knock
up something for whoever's around. My favourite recipe at the moment is this delicious
Baked Couscous and Tomato
(the intense flavour of a roast meal in half the time!) but Gravlax,
but is a strong second, and this "Courgette,
Feta, Chilli & Mint Flatbread" from Cuisine
Magazine is one I still make often. It doesn't sound much, and the
family all said "ogh" when I first said UI was trying it, but
however much I make it all goes... The fresh zing of mint and a little
chili (less than the recipe says often, depending on strength) with the
crisp crust, and almost acid feta, and the luscious courgettes... Yum!
