Middle Bronze Age gate lower on the slope of the tell than the Iron Age gate, there are remains of several gates of different periods in this area, a reminder both of that this location was regularly fortified, and of the strategic considerations that drive city builders to take similar decisions to their predecessors centuries earlier.
