Arad: Tell Arad from the road

The road north heads arrow straight through the flat valley between the hills, to the left Tell Arad forms a long low horseshoe. The underlying rock here is impervious to water, thus this shape allowed the collection of water at the lowest point (see the pictures of the cistern 1366f.).
