Beersheba: four chambered gate

As in other such gates there seems to have been a bench round the walls of one of these chambers. Possibly this was the place of council and justice (cf. for example 1 Sam 4:18; 2 Sam 19:8; Job 29:7ff.; Proverbs 31:23; Jeremiah 26:10f.).
