Megiddo and the hill country of Samaria and Galillee


The Carmel range and the hill country of Galillee offer few routes north-south, Megiddo guarded the main pass. Thus the city controled the most convenient route for trade or warfare between the centres of popuation and culture in Egypt and Mesopotamia.
